Jim Engebretson has been an active Twin Cities jobbing musician and teacher for over 30 years.

He has played French Horn with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Minnesota Orchestra, The Lake Wobegon Brass Band of Minnesota, Forest Dale Woodwind Quintet, and the North Metropolitan Brass Quintet. The quintets perform for weddings, concerts, and church services, and most of the quintet arrangements were done for special occasions and jobs. Other published ensembles (more than 60) include trios for flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, and trombone. Quartets for clarinet, sax, brass, and mixed woodwinds are available from ED SUETA MUSIC PUBLICATIONS in Rockaway, NJ.

To his credit presently are more than 20 titles accepted to various state festival lists (including New York and Wisconsin). He was a public school instrument teacher for more than 40 years and arranges music that is interesting but practical for students. Jon has been involved with woodwind performance and music education most of his life. He has Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees with emphasis on clarinet performance from the University of Minnesota. He was Co-Principal Clarinet with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra from 1972-1980 and Principal with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra from 1978-1982. He has been clarinet soloist with both orchestras.

Mr. Arnason has earned acclaim as an outstanding teacher of the beginner to the most advanced student. He taught at Bethel College, in Arden Hills, MN, from 1979-1983. While at Bethel he founded and conducted the Bethel Woodwind Choir. He now teaches privately at Kullberg Music Studio in Wayzata, MN, and at his own studio in Edina, MN. Jon has prepared and advised many students into playing and teaching careers.

Jon has been intimately involved with computer generated music calligraphy since its beginnings. He is a master score producer for many noted composer clients throughout the US and Canada, including Steven Wasson and Brendt Michael David. Modern and difficult notation has become his specialty.
